The Ten
I saw
'The Ten' last night as part of
IFF Boston and man was it great. First of all, I doubt I would have ever had a chance to see a movie like that in a giant sold out theatre. Secondly, it was exactly the movie I had been waiting for all my life - essentially it was a 'State' sketch movie. I am extremely biased, but it was easily funnier than 'Wet Hot American Summer' and possibly one of my favorite comedies of all time (for absurd laughs alone). I don't think it gets a proper release until August, but be sure to go see it. I know I will be in line to see it again.

Dos Personas Mini-Site
Over the past week or so got a
mini site online for Dos Personas, the duo improv project that Sarah McLean and I have been working on. Going through some festival submission formalities with it. Not a ton there, but does have some promo pics and a three part video of one of our shows. Enjoy.

End of an Era
Well, not really, but it seemed like a good title after the last post...
Tonight was the last night of the first run of Improv Asylum house team shows. Felt like a decent show for the team, but not our best (we kicked huge amounts of ass last week). Personally I felt a little stiff again. Just like where I was at the start of the run, I'm really hungry to get back out there again and keep going. I really want to be able to consistently play well and feel comfortable in the IA style of show. Don't feel like Im there yet, but it was a good experience in any case. Next run starts in May - bring it.
Maybe this was the end of an era after all. Sanjaya was voted off American Idol. Noooooooo!!!

"I am excited to enter the amazing world of unicycling. Thank you for helping with this major turning point in my life."
Comments from Kim - "Unicycles will crush yout balls." Amen.

Just Joan: Dancing on the Ceiling
Greg pleasantly reminded me and the Scotland Six today of the hilarity that is just Joan. Just Joan is a Scottish advice column and you
simply must read it - you can thank me later.

The Non-Comedy Challenge
It is late at night and I'm waiting around for some video to render, so I am going to challenge myself to talk about three things that aren't related to comedy, improv, or improv comedy.
1.) I couldn't give two craps about Don Imus. Screw that guy. I also think that there are bigger racists in the world to worry about though.
2.) Brian Perry trivia fact - I can only be productive if my surroundings are clean and well organized.
3.) Guitar Hero is probably the greatest thing in the world right now.
Bonus: I wish candy wasn't bad for your teeth. I'd eat it all the time.
Since I met my goal, I will add that I was really happy about my IA house team show tonight. I had a good show personally, but I thought my team came together extremely well. You would never guess that we have only been together for three shows and three rehearsals.

My Life Is A Series of Deadlines
I'm digging in my heels to finish up a couple of show proposals tonight for the upcoming IB season. For those playing at home, the show concepts are:
'Talk Explosion with Travis McKnight' and 'Doc Sevrenson and the Short Range Time Machine'
Gonna be tight - we will see how it shakes out. Wish me luck.

Audience Schmaudience
Second house team show tonight and I was substantially more comfortable. Short form flexes a totally different set of muscles - it is a great way to test ones skill at initiating solid scenes. If you don't make a clear initiation, a solid choice about your surroundungs, or establish a solid relationship, the scene feels empty right away. No chance to screw around and 'find it' like you do in long form. I never would have said this, but I think this short form work is going to have a measurable impact on my long form scenes.
What the F was up with the snow today? Momma Nates needs to stop screwing around.

Seriously, Unicycles?
I'm on the verge of buying a unicycle and spending the time to learn how to ride it, all so I can participate in a very odd improv show. If I'm going to go that far, might as go all the way - I'm going to push that we name the group 'Unitards'.
I'm still not sure how I feel about the new Wilco album. What's the deal Jeff Tweedy?
